November 20, 2021 - Form Flying, Lunch at Cambridge, MD |
It was a little cool this morning -- in the low 40s when I arrived at the Skypark -- but otherwise a great day for flying: clear skies, light winds, smooth air. I was flying formation with JJ and LJ this morning in JJ's RV-8 "Redline". LJ -- an ex-military pilot -- was doing the flying. He hadn't flown form in 22 years. I was lead.
Looking down at the forest on the north side of Essex Skypark. There is still some dull color but the leaves are dropping fast.
LJ and JJ over the bay. Redline is really a photogenic airplane, especially in the bright sunlight.
Looking down at the Eastern Shore with the Bay in the background and the Chester River in the foreground.
After the flight, a couple of RV grins. |
Next, Chuck and I decided to fly to Cambridge for lunch.
Cruising over the Eastern Shore towards Cambridge, approaching St. Michaels.
It was just a glorious day to be flying.
Now over the big mouth of the Choptank River.
On a crosswind at Cambridge.
After a delicious lunch at Katie's, we departed. Here, we're looking north up the Choptank River. Can you guess what happened next?
